key points review Can anyone remember any causes of the Great Depression? What are few key terms/ideas about ‘hobo life’? What are few key terms/ideas about ‘the On To Ottawa Trek’?

Text Questions Review Who was Prime Minister for most of the Great Depression? How did Bennett try to protect Canadian manufacturing jobs? What do you think the consequence (result) was? Why do you think remote areas in BC and Ontario were suggested for the relief camps?

5. After reading the section on The Regina Riot, what else do you think Bennett could have done if he had no intention of having a positive meeting with the Trek leaders and considering their demands? 6. Read the ‘Connections’ section. In your opinion, was the law Bennett created unfair? 7. Why do you think the CCF (Co-operative Commonwealth Federation) was made mostly from labour/unions and farmers?

8. What was the goal of the CCF? 9. Define socialism. Do you think that sounds like a good idea? Why or why not? 10. The Social Credit had the idea of giving everyone in Alberta $25, which sounds great! How might this stimulate the economy? 11. How were First Nations farmers treated? 12. How does the forming of the Union Nationale reflect the idea of regionalism?

Writing a letter – success criteria On your own or chatting with someone close to you, what are a few key elements to writing a successful letter?

Using historical perspective We can “infer” how people felt and thought in the past by understanding the context (the time period or event) and by understanding what they might have gone through (put yourself in their shoes) Who would be different people/perspectives in the Great Depression?

Rough Letter Using the template given to you write a rough template for a Great Depression Perspective letter
