StFX Business Administration Librarian in Residence Service APLA 2014 – Ignite session June 5, 2014 Rita Campbell Business Administration Liaison Librarian St. Francis Xavier University
Oh, no! I don’t even know what I would ask a librarian Faculty and students rarely consulted librarian. Prev. dean had negotiated for a database instead. Book budget near zero. Communication usually about collection not services. Library without deep understanding of the dept.

What didn’t work so well. Lightning talks - a series of short sessions to introduce students to the library resources Very low student attendance. Library quest A short “quest” distributed in class with trading card to all 1st year business students. Small prizes and a grade mark if they introduced themselves to the librarian. Only 12 of 250 students participated Bulletin boards Posting on the various bulletin boards within the Schwartz School. There was too much competition and no room on the boards.
