SOLVING INEQUALITIES

Definition: To “solve” an inequality means to find all values of the variable for which the statement is true. EX: 2x + 4 < 14 You solve these problems the same way you solve a problem with an equal sign (with one slight exception)

Procedures that leave the inequality symbol unchanged. Simplifying on one side of the inequality: Add/Subtract the same amount to both sides: Multiply/Divide the same positive amount to both sides:
