Journal Reflection #8: Alternate Sequel to Phantom of the Opera Read the review of Love Never Dies, the sequel musical of Phantom of the Opera. Then, write a journal reflection of your reaction to Love Never Dies: Do you like it? Why or why not? Write at least 2-3 paragraphs of an alternate sequel musical plot. You can use some ideas from Love Never Dies if you wish but you must change it significantly for your own story.

This review does not spoil the ending of the musical This review does not spoil the ending of the musical. In “Love Never Dies”, Christine eventually reveals that her son, Gustave, is actually the Phantom’s son, not Raoul’s. Christine reunites with Meg, who is happy to see her at first. However, Meg’s obsessive love for the Phantom mirrors his obsessive love for Christine, even though he has treated her poorly and ignored her talents in favor of Christine for 10 years. In the final scene of the musical Meg confronts the Phantom with a gun. When the Phantom tries to take it from her, she accidentally shoots and kills Christine.
