New Deal Webquest

Directions Complete the chart on the worksheet I have provided. You may use the internet or your on-line textbook as the basis for your research. As the directions indicate, please write out the full name of the agency or act, give a detailed description, and write the year the agency or act was created. Below the chart, answer the questions that pertain to the following slides.

Question #1 Which New Deal agency is depicted to the right?

Question #2 Who is being portrayed as sick in this political cartoon. Does the cartoonist appear to support the New Deal? Why or why not? What do the bottles of medicine represent?

Question #3 What point is the cartoonist trying to make in this cartoon? Do you think this cartoonist is liberal or conservative? Explain your answer.

Question #4 Is the creator of this political cartoon for or against the New Deal? Explain your answer.

Question #5 The woman to the right can thank which New Deal agency for what she is receiving?

Question #6 Look at your chart of New Deal programs. Using the internet or your on-line textbook, place an “X” to the right of the “Year” box of the programs that are still in existence today. Then, using Chapter 33, Section 5 of the “History Alive!” textbook, put a BOX around the initials of all the programs whose mission was Relief, put a CIRCLE around the initials of all the programs whose mission was Recovery, and put a TRIANGLE around the initials of all the programs whose mission was Reform.
