FLC treatment results in an increase in ploidy in a significant fraction of cells. FLC treatment results in an increase in ploidy in a significant fraction of cells. C. neoformans cells treated with FLC were fixed, stained with propidium iodide (PI), and examined using fluorescence flow cytometry. Treatment of cells with 32 μg/ml FLC at 24°C for 12 and 14 h resulted in ~20% and 88%, respectively, of the cell population showing ploidy levels at or above 4N, as indicated by the vertical line.
