Making Connections Mrs. Elias

3 ways to make connections Text to Text Text to Self Text to World

Text to Text Connecting the selection you are reading to another form of text (novel, article, television show, etc) Connections can be made among setting, between characters or even plot

Text to Self Connecting the selection you are reading to yourself (experiences, beliefs, ideas, etc) Connections are made about you and how you relate in anyway to the selection

Text to World Connecting the selection you are reading to something happening in the world or something that happened in the world Historic/World events and facts are a good way to connect text to world

Examples Can you think of a book you recently read where you were able to compare yourself to the character? What connection is this?

Examples What selection did you recently read that made you think of something else you have read? What connection is this?

Examples When were you able to connect an historic event to a text you have read? What is this connection called?
