Introduction Our goal was to design a machine that stamps a piece of paper with several requirements. Using Projectile Motion Conservation of Energy Conservation of Momentum The components were everyday items which kept the cost to a few dollars.

The Team The Device

Procedure First step is to release the projectile to trigger the car. The car experiences kinetic energy then has an impulse force when it is stopped by the string. The impulse on the string from the car releases the trap spring which stamps the paper.

Use of Energy Projectile Motion - Spring constant to Kinetic energy Car – Potential Energy to Kinetic Energy Impulse force from car to string Mouse Trap – Potential Energy to Kinetic Energy

Conclusion The greatest dilemma faced was the design of incorporating the aspects of the project. The dimensions made it hard to design the different requirements of the project. Getting all of the components to work together and in time Attaching the stamp rod to the trap The project took approx. 4 hours to build and estimated cost of all components were under $20
