School Based Telemedicine Ware County Schools
Why did we start? We began in August of 2017 Unison’s counselors already in schools daily treating children School based telemedicine created the opportunity for continuity of care with one team seeing the child, and having access to their records and care.
Our Process Referral made by parent, school counselor, principal, etc. Initial intake with therapist either in clinic or at the school Initial face-to-face appointment with MD/NP Follow-up appointments scheduled at school
Who do we serve? Ware County School System 10 schools (2 middle, 1 high-school, 6 elementary, and 1 preschool 13 school nurses In 2017-2018 110 students were served by Unison through school telemedicine in Ware County For 2018-2019 130 plus students have been served by Unison through school telemedicine in Ware County
Our Success Ability to collaborate with school counselors, teachers, principals, parents, and medical team Eliminates barrier of transportation issues for parents Children do not have to miss valuable instruction time to leave for appointments
