Mid-Year 2018-2019 Update Site visit conducted in January 2018 (report link) 2018-2019 Student Count projected at ~855 and staff count at ~61 Key project concerns include: Persistent deficits in the main operating budget for 2018-2019 Ongoing efforts to bridge deficit gap through private donations; however donors are more interested in funding special projects rather than ongoing operations (projected at INR 19 lacs for 2018-2109 by management) Funding deficits are impacting routine maintenance expenses such as supplies and replacing blackboards Management is internally debating options to change the fee structure next year (such as annual lumpsum payment); notably, fees is not the largest funding source Management stated reaching out to private corporates for donations has not yielded expected results Hiring of a super-teacher Ashok Sir has brought academic rigor to the higher secondary standards, similar to hiring Ajay Sir for bringing rigor to primary school Hiring super teachers is very expensive, but management believes it is the right strategy for the long-term success Recent Extra-curricular Activities include: Oct18/Nov18/Dec18: 55/69/58 students had blood and physical examination organized by Dr. Taneja Oct18: Sewing Center for students’ mothers commenced taking orders from other organizations Nov18: Organized a women’s health camp covering ~450 people (students and their mothers) in association with Mahaveer International and NBCFDC. Dec18: Primary School Students visited Planetarium in New Delhi Current proposal for $6000 (1st installment of 2018-academic year was higher) for teacher’s salaries

2018-2019 Budget Fees: New Policy: Reduced student count is due to implementation of new policy requiring at least 65% attendance in the prior year beyond 6th Standard. Fees: Management feels that felt there is a need to stop subsidization that led to entitlement mentality and promote true passion for learning among students. Donations: Management has committed to hiring fund-raising outreach to meet the funding gap. Salaries: Management felt that there was a need to increase salaries to retain and attract talent
