Genius Hour Home Stretch Rubrics, requirements, etc

What do I need to pass GH this semester? A product of some sort (if you are doing something like learning a language, your product might be speaking some during your presentation) A written component Business Plan Website Pamphlet Research Paper Song lyrics Directions A public presentation (see GH presentation rubric) Will take place during finals week during off-blocks

Product Rubric FAIL PASS Product was not completed or effort was minimal resulting in a poor or throw-together product. Failure of product was due to a lack of work. Product was completed with a genuine and sustained effort resulting in a product that did not seem rushed. If the product failed, it was a result of something other than lack of work

Written Component Rubric FAIL PASS Written component was not completed or was poorly put together reflecting a rushed effort. There are many grammatical and mechanics errors that impede understanding. Written component was completed with genuine and sustained effort. There are few grammatical and mechanics errors, and if there are, they do not impede understanding.

Presentation Rubric FAIL PASS Presenters are not prepared for presentation. They read straight off the powerpoint or poster instead of genuinely talking to the audience about their project. There may be little eye-contact, a lack of professional tone, and a lack of preparation. Presenters are well prepared for the presentation. They are able to genuinely speak to their audience using their PowerPoint or Poster as only a reference. There is appropriate eye-contact, professional tone, and evidence of preparation.

What should I do today? Decide what product you can feasibly accomplish in the next month that still requires SUSTAINED work (not just accomplished in a couple hours) If you are in a group, decide who will be responsible for which parts of the project (if there is someone who is better at writing, you might give them the written component) Figure out what your written component is going to look like WORK, WORK, WORK, WORK, WORK, WORK
