Some Were Curious  6:28 Then they said to him, “What must we do, to be doing the works of God?” 5:30 So they said to him, “Then what sign do you do, that we may see and believe you? What work do you perform?  6:42 They said, “Is not this Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? How does he now say, ‘I have come down from heaven’?”

Some Were Curious Questioning can be GOOD! John 3:3-5 1 John 4:1 Revelation 2:2

1 Timothy 6:3-4 If anyone advocates a different doctrine and does not agree with sound words, and with the doctrine conforming to godliness, he is conceited and understands nothing; but he has a morbid interest in controversial questions and disputes about words

Matthew 22:15-17 Then the Pharisees went and plotted how to entangle him in his words. 16 And they sent their disciples to him, along with the Herodians, saying, “Teacher, we know that you are true and teach the way of God truthfully, and you do not care about anyone's opinion, for you are not swayed by appearances. 17 Tell us, then, what you think. Is it lawful to pay taxes to Caesar, or not?”

Some Were Curious In 1 Timothy 6:3-4- caused controversy In Matthew 22:15- a way to reject truth

The goal of questioning will determine the value of it. Searching for truth is noble, Acts 17:11 and commendable if belief results But some don’t love truth, 2 Thess.2:9-10

2 Thessalonians 2:10 …and with all the deception of wickedness for those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth so as to be saved.

Some Were Just Excitable Brothers, my heart's desire and prayer to God for them is that they may be saved. 2 For I bear them witness that they have a zeal for God, but not according to knowledge. 3 For, being ignorant of the righteousness of God, and seeking to establish their own, they did not submit to God's righteousness.  Romans 10:1-3 CAN be easy to get fired up over the wrong things! Peter? Paul? James and John?

We have a great need today to establish the truth of a work, an effort, or a stand…. THEN to get fired up and excited about the right thing.

Some Followed Their Own Desires Examine yourselves, to see whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Or do you not realize this about yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you?—unless indeed you fail to meet the test!  2 Corinthians 13:5 For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, 4 and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths. 2 Timothy 4:3-4

Some Followed Weakly Matthew 19:11-12 The truth is… Some teaching is HARD, Matthew 19:11-12 But He said to them, not all men can accept this statement, but only those to whom it has been given.

Some Followed Complaining Deuteronomy 20:8 1 Corinthians 10:10 …..who is the man that is afraid and fainthearted? Let him depart and return to his house, so that he might not make his brothers’ hearts melt like his heart. Nor let us try the Lord, as some of them did, and were destroyed by the serpents. Nor grumble, as some of them did, and were destroyed by the destroyer.

But Some Were Receptive  But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, John 1:12 Receptive ones are given the right to seize grace with obedient thankfulness. How about you?

How Do You Seek and Follow Jesus? Are you like some disciples that were coming to Him? Or, like others that were leaving Him?
