ST GEORGE’S STUDENTS’ UNION SCHOOL SHOP REFURBISHMENT PROJECT SUMMER 2018

Last summer we refurbished our SU Bar, and we’ve decided that this year it is time that the School Shop got a facelift. The refurbishment has been approved by the Board of Trustees, and we will be working hard on developing the final designs with the project team that has been appointed over the next couple of months. The plans are still in the very early stages, but we wanted to share the initial outline with everybody now that we know the project is going ahead – we hope that the refurbishment will make the store a more attractive place for customers, and will improve the environment for our permanent and student staff members. The look of the shop will be in keeping with the Bar, and we hope to tie it in to the SU branding that our strategy is going to develop. We plan to close for a couple of weeks in August, and re-open ahead of the August Bank Holiday. And the best part is that we’ll be able to offer a much better product range to you all as a result – including bringing in meal deals to offer students a really affordable lunch option, and (we hope) Krispy Kreme doughnuts to help fuel those long days of lectures and studying!

Till points moved to allow better queue systems, with a fourth till point added to reduce length of waits at busy times, as well as a queueing system being added Additional office space/stock room created that will allow for better storage and secure cashing up procedures to be undertaken New clothing and merchandise area that will showcase the new and improved ranges that the SU is bringing in ahead of September 2018 Additional fridge space will allow for the shop to offer a larger and more varied range, and bring in affordable meal deals at lunchtime that will offer students a low cost alternative to other offerings within the George’s site The rearranged shop will have more intelligent shelving units that will increase our shelf capacity by up to 20%, which will allow for the introduction of some exciting new product ranges! The shop windows and entrance will have attractive and eye catching vinyls and advertising screens that will draw customers into the store
