Lesson Six: Applying Filters to Patient Lists In this lesson you will learn: How to Apply Filters to Patient Lists Lesson Six

Applying Filters to Patient Lists Filtering parameters can be applied to Patient Lists in order to limit the amount of results returned when creating Patient Lists. By limiting the amount of information on our Patient List, we manage our time more wisely. The creation of filters allows us to avoid looking through entire listings and allows us to find specific, pertinent pieces of information. Lesson Six

Applying Filters to Patient Lists To begin applying filters click on the Patient List that you want to modify within the Organizer. Then, access Patient List Properties by choosing Properties from the Patient List Menu. Lesson Six

Applying Filters to Patient Lists The Patient List Properties window will open. Lesson Six

Building Patient Lists Understanding Filters in Patient Lists When a filtering category is selected from the left side of Customize Patient List Properties window, you can select specific filtering options from the right side of the dialog box that will define which patients are displayed on your Patient List. These options differ depending on which filtering category is selected. Filtering Options Filtering Categories Lesson Six

Building Patient Lists Understanding Filters in Patient Lists As Filtering Options are selected and completed, the applicable Filtering Category will list a checkmark. In the example above, the Locations Filter was selected, indicated by the checkmark beside the Locations Category. Lesson Six

Building Patient Lists Patient List Filters: Medical Services Filter The Medical Service filter restricts patients based on the type of service that they are receiving at CHKDHS. Selecting Medical Services will trigger the Patient List to only display patients that are affiliated with the Medical Services that are selected. If no Medical Services are selected, the system will overlook this filter and generate patients based on other criteria that was entered into the system. Lesson Six

Building Custom Patient Lists Patient List Filters: Encounter Types Filter The Encounter Type filter restricts patients based on their encounter type at CHKHS. Selecting the Encounter Type will trigger the Patient List to only display patients that were admitted to the selected Encounter Locations. If no Encounter Types are selected, the system will overlook this filter and generate patients based on other criteria that was entered into the system when the Patient List was built. Lesson Six

Building Custom Patient Lists Patient List Filters: Relationships Filter The Relationship filter restricts patients based on an established Relationship (Visit or Lifetime) between you and patients at CHKHS. Selecting the Relationship filter will trigger the Patient List to only display patients with whom you have the selected relationship. If no Relationship filters are selected, the system will overlook this filter and generate patients based on other criteria that was entered into the system when the Patient List was built. Lesson Six

Building Custom Patient Lists Patient List Filters: Admission Criteria Filter The Admission Criteria filter restricts patients based on their admission dates to CHKDHS. Selecting the Admission Criteria filter will trigger the Patient List to only display patients who were admitted within the specified date range. If no Admission Criteria filters are selected, the system will overlook this filter and generate patients based on other filters that was entered into the system when the Patient List was built. Lesson Six

Building Patient Lists The Discharged Criteria filter restricts patients based on their discharge dates from CHKDHS. Selecting the option, “Only Display Patients who have not been discharged” within the Discharged Criteria filter will trigger the Patient List to only display patients who have not been discharged. Patient List Filters: Discharged Criteria Filter If no Discharged Criteria filters are selected, the system will overlook this filter and generate all patients based on other filters that was entered into the system when the Patient List was built. It is imperative to select ‘Only Display Patients who have not been discharged’ from the Discharged Criteria filter for all Patient Lists that are created so only currently admitted patients will display on the Patient List!!!!
