Au(I)-Catalyzed Rearrangement of Allyl Aryl Ethers James R. Vyvyan Department of Chemistry, Western Washington University, Bellingham, WA 98225 Triphenylphosphinegold(I) complexes catalyze the Claisen-type rearrangement of aryl allyl ethers to the corresponding branched and linear products. The product distribution depends on the substitution pattern and olefin geometry of the starting allylic ether. Intermolecular trapping, crossover and stereochemical transfer experiments all support an ionic mechanism.
