Northshore High School Attendance Call me if absent 2 or more days. Read the Parent/Student Handbook There is a link for the handbook on the NHS website. Students will get a copy of this on Thursday.

Emergency Cards Must be on file in Student Services Office. Recommended that several additional authorized persons be listed on the emergency card. Keep up to date as the year progresses. If you have any updated custody paperwork, please let me know.

Clubs Club Day Students will be able to walk around at lunch to see which clubs to join It is important for your child to get involved!

FRESHMAN FACTS The more you get involved in your child’s education, the better they do in every way. Test scores, attitude and behavior, even the likelihood of graduation and a college education, are all greatly affected by your involvement. Make an effort to teach your child to advocate for themselves as much as possible. (i.e. suggest to them to visit and speak to the teachers/counselors on their own to resolve issues)

Parent Responsibilities Check on your child’s progress regularly through JPAMS. Info. regarding JPAMS is mailed from Central Office. Contact teachers by email if you would like to schedule a conference. If you need to schedule a conference with more than one teacher, contact me and I will schedule the meeting. When emailing the teacher please copy (CC) the counselor on the email.

ACADEMIC PREP PERIOD After 5th period 35 minute block Designed to be a daily Study Hall where students can get free tutoring from their teachers or peers. Students are required to write an APP essay in every class in each semester. Students earn a ½ credit for APP for the full year. It will count as an elective.
