#44308-GB3 Synthesis and Photochemical Characterization of Hexacoordinate Silicon(diimine)3 Complexes P.I. Thomas A. Schmedake University of North Carolina – Charlotte Intense visible light absorption A series of hexacoordinate polypyridyl silicon complexes have been synthesized, including Si(bipy)3(PF6)4, Si(phen)3(PF6)4, Si(terpyridine)2(PF6)4, and some heteroleptic complexes including Si(phen)2(OMe)2(PF6)4, Si(bipy)2(OMe)2(PF6)4. The electrochemical and optical characterization of these ionic compounds is underway. So far most of the compounds have multiple reversible reduction peaks. The combination of tunable optical properties and rich electrochemistry suggests possiblity of using these compounds for photochemistry. Multiple accessible oxidation states
