Remember BIG The Question…… “Did the Founding Fathers make the best choices for the United States?” - Why a constitutional convention?

You will be divided into small groups. Small Group Activity - “Why was the Constitutional Convention called?” You will be divided into small groups. Each student in the group will analyze the documents by filling out the graphic organizer. Remember you are searching for evidence that will answer the Compelling Question.

Small Group Activity - “Why was the Constitutional Convention called?” After completing the graphic organizer, answer the following questions: What is your document, who is the writer, and why is he writing? What problems with the political system or the Articles of Confederation does the writer describe? What does the writer identify as the causes of the problems? Does the writer think the problems can be fixed? If so, how? How significant do you think these problems were?

Summative Assessment - Graded Write an extended paragraph (half to one page but not a full essay) in response to the Compelling Question: “Why was the Constitutional Convention called?”
