Planning for the Institutionalization of an Initiative

Institutionalization: The active process of developing practices, relationships, and procedures that become a lasting part of the community

Why plan for institutionalization? It gives the time necessary to solve the problem It helps gain the structure and legitimacy needed for future years of service It makes efforts more efficient and effective It is cost-effective

When should you begin planning? Once you have a clear idea of your goals and the opinions of your constituency
