JRC comments and questions in advance EVS1421-605 Korea EVS GTR IWG Session #14 Ottawa, September 2017

Relevant to Thermal propagation Document Title Author EVS1421-605 Thermal propagation Test. New initiation method Korea Slide No 2 It is stated that the new initiation method has as objective to conduct the "Thermal Propagation test without modification of module and RESS". How do you perform your test without modification of the REESS pack ? What scenario is the proposed test covering? Do you think it is feasible for a whole module to go into thermal runaway? Does this test relate to the scenario of internal short circuit due to a manufacturing fault, where arguably only 1 single cell is affected?. How does this test relate to the Short circuit protection test as described in the current draft GTR, which could also be performed at module level?. Please highlight any difference between the two tests.
