Thursday, March 14th IMPORTANT TIPS: THESIS STATEMENT -> “The Hiroshima bombing should/should not have happened because REASON 1, REASON 2, REASON 3” REASON #1 -> BODY PARAGRAPH 2, REASON #2 -> BODY PARAGRAPH 3, REASON #3 -> BODY PARAGRAPH 4 TEXT EVIDENCE -> Use what you remember from the book, the sources, and your T-charts / Research notes!!!!!!!!!!

Thursday, March 14th Typically, an eleven-year-old’s day includes schoolwork, maybe chores, and hopefully some time for recreation—not so for those who survived the Hiroshima bombings during the Second World War. Old or young, the survivors of those bombings dealt with ordeals like no other. Evidently, the Hiroshima bombings are not justifiable because family members died, homes had been destroyed, and life had been changed all because of a decision made by the President of the United States. HOOK THESIS STATEMENT (REASON #1, REASON #2, REASON #3) Use this example to help you write your INTRODUCTION PARAGRAPH.

Thursday, March 14th Transition To begin with, it was not just Hiroshima that had been upset by the bomb—another city, Nagasaki, was also bombed for the intent of impacting the Japnese military—but the bombing startled the country of Japan Entirely. [According to Prager University, Japan suffered from a naval blockade in addition to countless bombings from American aircrafts like the B-29.] If the Japanese had no access to their resources from the blockade and if the Japanese faced destruction of their cities one-by-one, then the Allied nations should have noticed they were close to surrendering. Dropping an atomic bomb—not once, but twice—only proves that these efforts were cruel and unnecessary. EXPLANATION EVIDENCE Use this example to help you write your BODY PARAGRAPHS.

Thursday, March 14th Therefore, the Hiroshima bombings should not have happened because the Japanese civilians faced Countless moments of death and destruction. Even though there were bad things the Japanese military did to the United States, two wrongs do not make a right. Enough damage was caused in Europe during the Second World War, and it did not need to happen in Japan, either. Use this example to help you write your CONCLUSION PARAGRAPH.
