Chapter 10 7th Grade Math
Graphing Points in Four Quadrants 1/25 Coordinate plane A grid formed by the x- and y- axis x-axis is a horizontal number line y-axis is a vertical number line origin is where the x- and y-axis intersect
(x, y) gives the coordinates of the location of a point Ordered Pairs (x, y) gives the coordinates of the location of a point The first number is the x-coordinate and tells us to go right or left The second number is the y-coordinate and tells us to go up or down The origin is at (0, 0)
The coordinate plane is divided into four quadrants. The quadrants are numbered starting in the top right quadrants and counting counter clockwise
Lines that are parallel to the x-axis Horizontal lines all y-coordinates are equal (2, 8), (6,8), (-12, 8) Lines that are parallel to the y-axis Vertical lines all x-coordinates are equal (-1, 4), (-1, 9), (-1, -100)
