OZOBOT

WHAT IS OZOBOT It drives on lines – If you drive a line, place Ozobot on it and it will follow the line.

How to care for the ozobot 1) Calibrate: The Ozobots “eyes” (their sensors) are very sensitive to light. This means if the paper changes or the light changes, it will affect how the “eyes” work. To fix this you need to calibrate. Prepare Ozobot for Play! Before you begin, you need to calibrate your Ozobot! You should calibrate often, especially if Ozobot starts acting odd. When in doubt, calibrate! P l a c e O z o b t H r Hold down the power button on Ozobot for 2 seconds until the LED light turns white. Place Ozobot in the middle of the black dot above. Ozobot will then blink blue, move forward, and then blink green. When Ozobot blinks green, it means that it has successfully calibrated. Start over if Ozobot blinks red. X 1 2 3 4

How to care for the ozobot – Part 2 Clean the Wheels: Get a clean piece of white paper and move the ozobot back and forward to clean the wheels. Charge the battery: When the battery is almost charged if starts blinking green. When charged it shows a solid green light.

Ozobot and colours It can see different colours – Blue / Green / Red. As it goes over different colours the LED light changes to that colour.

Refer to next slide for the codes. COLOUR ORDER MATTERS Some codes are read from left to right, while others is doesn’t matter. Refer to next slide for the codes.

WHY LEARN TO CODE WITH COLOUR???? There are lots of line following robots are the world used in factories, hospitals, restaurants and many other businesses. The first AGV (Automated Guided Vehicles) was invented in the 1950s. This was simply a tow truck that followed a wire on the floor. Today they are just about in every industry.

Maze exercise You need to help Ozobot find the way to the shop by getting across the river. On the right side of the sheet is your house and Ozobot needs to take you from the house to the shop. Using the supplied codes, guide your robot to the shop. IT IS OKAY TO MAKE MISTAKES – IF YOU DO, GET A NEW SHEET AND FILL IN THE CODES IN A DIFFERENT WAY.

THE ACTIVITY –- HOME TO THE SHOP
