Colossians 3:12-14 12 Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. 13 Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. 14 And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.

Hopes and Dreams This year we hope to make new friends and to  have fun learning new things. We also hope to use our creative thinking when are doing Art. 2B This year we hope to do lots of creative things in art.  We also look forward to the new playground opening up so that we can have heaps of fun. 2W

Important Information Sport Days – Mondays and Thursday. Please ensure your child has their hat. Library – Is on Thursday. Children will need to bring their library. They can borrow up to 3 books for 3 weeks. Prayer Assembly – Mondays 8:40am. Year Two will be leading Prayer assembly in Week 6. Please confirm by reading the Newsletter. Merit Award Assembly – Fridays 8:40am.

Sacrament of Confirmation This year - Our Parish Priests will celebrate the Sacrament of Confirmation as we don’t currently have a Bishop. Proposed Dates for the Sacrament of Confirmation: Saturday June 29th @ 11:00am - Narraweena Saturday July 6th @ 11:00am – Dee Why (This is the first Saturday of the holidays.)

Homework and other important information will be posted here. Some families will be issued with hard copies on request.

Homework In Year Two, students are expected to complete 20 minutes of homework each day, including 10 minutes of reading. A homework grid will be sent home Monday Week 4 with homework activities for Weeks 4-6. During Wellbeing Week there will be no homework. (Week 7) Homework is due on Friday/Monday. Later in the term, children will be given their WUSHKA and STUDYLADDER passwords so they can access them from home.

Readers and Reading Each week your child will receive 2 levelled readers. One will be their guided reader which will be read with their classroom teacher during their guided reading time. The other is one which they select from the reading boxes. It is expected that their books will remain in their clear folders and come to school every day. Please listen to your child reading out loud daily for at least 10 minutes. We need your support in looking after our readers. Please ensure they are returned.

Classroom Helpers Start in Week 5 –We need helpers for Reading (Daily) and Gross Motor Skills. 10:05 on MONDAYS. Work with Children Volunteer forms will need to be completed by anyone working in classrooms. If you have assisted at the school at any time in the last 12 months your form remains valid. We are planning to start a reading program soon for children who need EXTRA SUPPORT. There will be a meeting to discuss what is involved. Thank you to the parents who have volunteered to be class parents in 2B and 2W.

Absences All absences MUST be accounted for – use , email the office or send in a note with your child We will chase up any absences with a note which must be returned the following school day It is a legal requirement Any absences longer than 10 days needs an application to be approved by Mr Bateman prior to the leave All found on the weebly.

Reporting and Grading Three-way interviews will be held at the end of Term and where we will set goals with the children. Semester One Reports go home at the end of Term Two and we will have a parent meeting to discuss reports. Semester Two reports will go out at the end of the year. Children will receive grades (Outstanding to Limited) in addition to effort.

Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) Social and emotional learning (SEL) is the process through which children and adults acquire and effectively apply the knowledge, attitudes, and skills necessary to understand and manage emotions, set and achieve positive goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain positive relationships, and make responsible decisions. How? Role plays, reading, class discussions and activities as needed
