Fin & Countertop Sample Kit Instructions November 11, 2013
Driver & RGB Controller Kit
Driver Kit
Driver Kit RGB Remote Control RGB Controller Driver Wall Plug
Driver Kit Two “whips,” one for the Fin, one for the Countertop Plug the driver into the RGB Controller
Countertop Kit
Countertop Kit Two LED options in heat sink / mounting profile. One White & one RGB. Countertop (underside) with routed & painted channel
RGB LED strip has a black & white appearance when not lit
White LED strip has a yellow appearance when not lit
RGB with white material is the standard RGB with white material is the standard. Place the heat sink with LEDs in the channel, with the LEDs facing the long direction of the panel.
In an actual installed order this heat sink would be attached to the material with DuoLock tape, which is extremely strong but is also removable for access to the lights
You can extend the kit over the end of a flat surface to demonstrate a recommended overlap for continual access to the lights.
Fin Kit
Fin profile with material inserted Valance cover and mounting hardware
Mounting hardware includes a silicone tube piece and a through-bolt Mounting hardware includes a silicone tube piece and a through-bolt. There is also a spare valance to show how all of the hardware would be concealed in the fin
RECOMMENDATION: DO NOT ATTACH BOLT THROUGH MATERIAL OR SNAP ON THE VALANCES Hole is drilled in the Chroma to accept the mounting bolt. The mounting bolt is included to illustrate how the material attaches, but to use other samples in the future the hardware has been left unattached. Sample has a notch in it so it does not interfere with wiring. This is a fabrication detail that will exist in all finished fins
The notch in the corner of the Chroma is intended to not interfere with this soldered wire connection. However, the fin is sized large enough that you can drop another 8x8 sample into the channel to see how it lights and this sample will not interfere with the soldered connection
If you choose to keep the Chroma attached to the fin, put the silicone tubing in the hole first
The hole in the fin profile and the hole in the Chroma are drilled at the same time, so the bolt WILL fit through. If you have troubles, make sure the sample is all the way in the channel and that it is oriented so the corner notch fits around the soldered wire connection.
My recommendation is to keep the bolt in the fin for easy handling, but not pushed all the way in. If you push it all the way in it will become a little difficult to remove if you want to try different samples in the future. Also, in a standard application the bolt will be attached with a nut on the opposite side, which is then covered with a valance.
You can hold the valance up to show how it conceals all of the hardware, but DO NOT snap the valance into place or it can be very difficult to remove. You may damage it if you need to remove it. They are easier to remove in full heights.
RGB Usage and Demonstration
Plug one or both kits into the whips attached to the RGB controller
Notice the location of the pins to ensure you get a good connection, then lightly screw the threads together
Both whips for the Fin and Countertop are plugged in
Has 20 different color-changing programs already integrated RGB Remote Control Has 20 different color-changing programs already integrated = Power On = Power Off Color Dial – Touch to select any gradient of color on the wheel
First program = solid, cool white color Mode Button – Selects through all the pre-programmed color modes. It does not cycle through, so you need to move one direction and when the program no longer changes then go the other way. To get to the first program, repeatedly push the bottom button until the color is solid white. First program = solid, cool white color Second program (push the top button one time from solid white starting program) = flashes the same cool white color Third program gradually cycles through all colors in a smooth way. This seems to be the best program to have running during a presentation
Speed Button – Speeds up or slows down the rate at which the selected program cycles Brightness Button – Defaults to the brightest setting, and you can dim it down from there using this button
Both kits were designed so that you can show edge lighting with any 8x8 Chroma sample, and you will see how much light transmission can vary depending on the color of the material
White light with colored Chroma will light the edges white
