Finished Project Requirements Cover Page—neatly done. Can be artistic. Table of Contents Assignments—Place them in this order. a. Self-Evaluation/Self-Description Responses b. Career Cruising Quiz Results and One Page Response over the results c. Information Sheet (Resume) d. Admissions essay-Texas common application topics. e. Parental Responses f. List of References g. College/Corporation Information Search h. “Teacher” Recommendation i. Chicago essay--optional j. Scholarship Essay k. “Interview” Responses

Career Cruising Go to careercruising.com User: Dumas Pass:gocenter Create a Portfolio (use your school email) Write down your username and password for your portfolio. Take the “Career Matchmaker” Quiz Write down your top responses Write a one page response about the results.

One Page Response Topic Ideas How well did the matches fit your expectations? What surprised you? What seemed accurate? What rank was your expected profession? Were the results useful? Did you gather any new ideas?

Examples

Information Sheet (Resume) Use the “Student Data” Sheet to help you organize your ideas and accomplishments. You can use the instructions for creating a resume in Word to help organize in a document. Rough Draft of this is due by October 23.

College/Corporation Search Choose a college/university or a corporation to find and complete the assignment. If the company or college doesn’t have a website—choose one that does. Find the official website. Complete the appropriate survey.

Scholarship Essay For many of the scholarships for which you apply, you will need an essay to accompany many of the applications. For this assignment, write a 250 word essay that outlines your future goals and plans. When it comes time for the DEF scholarship, this is the essay you will need.

List of References List of four people who could serve as references for you. Use their business address, phone, and email. No family Variety of people (ex. One from school, one from church, one from your volunteer organization, and one former boss.)
