LEARNING OBJECTIVES: Define the Transitional Assistance Management Program (TAMP). Establish who is eligible for TAMP and what is the timeline for eligibility. Define the Health Insurance Marketplace and its benefit to transitioning service members.

TRANSITIONAL ASSISTANCE HEALTHCARE PROGRAM TAMP Limited to 180 days Quarterly premiums/ deductibles TRICARE Selective Reserve

ELIGABILITY FOR HEALTHCARE: Involuntary Separation. Supporting contingency operations Reservists Active duty Sole survivor discharge

ELIGABILITY CON’T: SELRES/RC with no break in service. Family members

DENTAL COVERAGE: One-time dental care within 180 days, unless exam was received within 90 days of getting out. MTF Space-available

HEALTH INSURANCE MARKET PLACE Assistance finding health care coverage Veterans not enrolled in VA Benefits/ Veteran’s Health Coverage Dependents not eligible for VA Healthcare Program.

RETIREE MEDICAL COVERAGE: Active Duty/Reservist (age 60) Request to enroll 90 days prior to retirement date. Three options of enrollment depending on eligibility.

TRICARE COVERAGE FOR RETIREES: TRICARE Prime: annual fee/co-payment/not typically required to file claims/assigned PCM. TRICARE Select: You choose providers, reimbursement for select preventative care services, annual fee, co-costs for medical treatment.

TRICARE COVERAGE CON’T: TRICARE for Life: <65 years old, eligible for Medicare Part A No annual fees Enrollees required to pay Medicare Part B premiums Unless sponsor is on Active Duty Supplemental insurance still recommended

CONTINUED HEALTH CARE BENEFIT PROGRAM Premium base, minimal coverage Temporary health coverage post lost of eligibility of TRICARE eligibility for 18-36 months. Must purchase this within 60 days of losing TRICARE eligibility.
