Learning Target: I can evaluate Private Grayrock’s Decision based on his character Do Now: Do you think that Private Grayrock made the right decision at the end of “The Mockingbird”? Explain why or why not in 2-3 sentences!

Group Evaluation In your groups, please discuss your response to the “Do Now”. As you discuss, be ready to answer the following: What was the general consensus of the group? If there were different opinions, what evidence was there to support the decision? If everyone agreed, what were the stronger pieces of evidence?

Evaluating Private Grayrock In your group or individually, you will begin to draft from Private Grayrock, explaining your decision. Write a letter to your captain in which you explain where you went and why. Remember that your letter should make sense in the time period! Remember to use at least 2 examples of “slang” from the time period to help make your more authentic! Also, try to include at least 2 vocabulary words!
