Weather!! Chapter 10

What are the layers of the atmosphere starting from the earth’s surface?

Layers of the atmosphere! Troposphere Stratosphere Mesosphere Thermosphere Exosphere

Why is the area around the equator warmer than other parts of the Earth?

The area around the equator is warmer because the sunlight hits there at a more direct angle than the poles.

What causes differences in air pressure? The unequal heating of the Earth!!

What causes changes in weather?

Differences in air pressure cause air masses to move which causes changes in the weather.

The boundary between two air masses that collide. What is a front? The boundary between two air masses that collide.

Explain three different weather fronts. Warm front: When a warm air mass moves into an area of cooler air. Cold front: When a cold air mass moves into an area of warmer air. Stationary front: The boundary between two air masses that are not moving against each other.

How does air always move?

Air always moves from areas of high pressure to areas of low pressure.

What is wind? The movement of air
