Our Smart City background FP7 SMART CITY PROJECTS SCC-01-2014 SCC-01-2015 SCC-01-2016 [ mySMARTLife ]

Ensure and justify that demonstration cities are ready to become lighthouse cities

Well-balanced consortium and work plan, representing all the stakeholders needed for the city transformation process Good justification of their roles and suitability to develop the project tasks

How to build a proposal? CONCEPT WORK PLAN IMPACTS Cohesion and coherency among the different levels Ensure the balance among all the steps that should be covered within the project: from demonstration to D&C Provide a credible “story” behind the project (concept), reflecting how the steps are connected (work plan), how they are implemented and the achievements through each of them (impacts)

5,700 citizens directly involved Demonstration Source: Jason Hawkes. Valladolid: Cúpula del Milenio Balance the interventions and clearly identify them: energy, mobility & ICT Interventions have to be innovative, credible and feasible, and this has to be reflected in the proposal Reflect them in a clear and understandable manner, not letting room for doubts on what, where or how the actions will be implemented Ensure the political commitment and reflect it in the proposal Business models and financial plans should be very well reflected to be sound, credible and reflect the commitment 50% Energy savings 80% CO2 emissions avoided 5,700 citizens directly involved

The focus on replication Ensure from the proposal a very soundness replication framework, aimed at establishing the links on how to connect the dots between the city demands and the replication of the supply side Focus on the business models, financing and stakeholders as drivers towards the replication of solutions Pre-identify (well-justified) the impacts achieved through the replication

Showing readiness to exploit, disseminate and communicate RESULTS TARGET TOOLS IMPACT RESEARCH TECHNO DEVELOPMENT DEMONSTRATION DISSEMINATION EXPLOITATION COMMUNICATION raise awareness; extend the impact; engage stakeholders and target groups; share a solution and know how; influence policy and practice; develop new partnerships Develop outlined dissemination, communication and exploitation plans based on the pre-identification of results, the targets, the tools and the achieved impact It is worth spending time on developing consistent plans, which can provide consistency to the whole proposal The four essentials in the drafted D&C&E Plans: Pre-identification of project results that will be exploited/communicated/disseminated (messages, commercial products, etc.) The target audience for dissemination, communication and exploitation (to whom?) The tools and mechanisms (who?) to ensure proper implementation of the plan The impact expected to be achieved Adapted from source: Dissemination, exploitation, impact? Communicating EU research and innovation in Horizon 2020 EC, DG Connect, A2 Robotics

Your project impacts IMPACTS QUANTIFIABLE JUSTIFIABLE MEASURABLE Make use of well-known indicators and set a value IMPACTS JUSTIFIABLE MEASURABLE Include references to justify the calculated impacts Ensure the mechanisms to demonstrate to how to measure them Focus on impacts: relevance to ensure the benefits of the project: justify that it is worth funding it Quantifiable, measurable, justifiable and describing the means to achieve them ACHIEVABLE Justify how they can be achieved through implementing the project
