Why shall we standardise? Slide shown to IKRC in November 2015 Cost savings during construction: Quantity discount, Compatibility between items, Faster installation and commissioning from higher competence & efficiency of ESS technical teams Cost savings during exploitation: Need for less spares and specific tools, Smaller support teams and/or cheaper industrial contracts from easier maintenance and update Standardising is in the long term interest of the organisation and its partners [ Linked to recommendation from the Annual Review 2015: “Consider placing common items (e.g. PLCs) under a common WBS and purchasing strategy to ensure uniformity during operations”]
