Grading Scheme Rationale #2

Based on Points, not Percentage

Why? Incentivize useful behaviors Team with other people, learn from them Give feedback to other students Respond to others on Piazza Help them with their project Points come from more than just instructor and TAs.

Grading by Experience Points In traditional grading, students worry about losing what they have. Focus is on points deducted, not points gained. With experience points, you never have to worry about losing what you have earned.

Differences No levels Limits on points you can get for each actiity You can lose points for not teaming with enough people Exams will still be graded by percentage, but converted to points
