Funding Opportunities for CFP Projects San Francisco Bay Area Parks and Devils Postpile NM Climate Friendly Parks Workshop Jack Williams, P. E. Chief Park Facility Management, PWRO

Many parks having difficulty meeting environmental goals Chart tracking park performance in meeting E.O

How to get CFP needs funded Identify mitigation actions and projects at CFP Workshop and include in Action Plan –Large projects can be submitted as PMIS packages during service wide calls Funding CFP actions –Project selection process depends on fund source –Green Book defines money available for projects and appropriate uses –Talk to Program Managers for more information

Potential Sources of CFP Facility Funding Base Funds –Daily Operational Activities Equipment Replacement Fund –Examples include: generator replacement, two stroke engine replacement, equipment (computers) Repair Rehab –Example projects include: renewable energy systems, solar hot water, HVAC replacement, insulation, utility upgrades, window replacement Regular Cyclic Maintenance –Example projects include: roof replacement, lighting replacement, water conserving appliances

Potential Sources of CFP Facility Funding Recreation Fee Program –Example projects include: renewable energy systems, sustainable improvements to visitor space Environmental Management Program Waste Reduction and Management –Example projects include: recycling and composting infrastructure, ISWAPs and other studies

CPF Funding – New Facilities Line Item Construction –Major construction and reconstruction projects –Examples include: New Lassen Volcanic Visitor Center (LEED Platinum), Mount Rainier Jackson Visitor Center –Pursue net-zero and Passive House design on future facilities

Park Facility Management Facility Management Program Passive House- Super Insulated Buildings Airtight, super insulated, energy efficient building with low heating requirement Can cut energy use up to 90% over conventional building Photo : National Geographic Cover on Building Energy Loss Similar pattern of heat loss through roof at Longmire Admin Building (snow only on eaves) Picture: L134 - no insulation underneath building!!

Alternative Transportation and Vehicles Transit in Parks Program –Alternative transportation programs and projects in parks. Example projects include: shuttle bus purchase, traffic reduction programs, transportation studies GSA Leased Fleet –Primary source for alternative fuel and hybrid vehicles Right Sizing Fleet –Park studies available for reference
