About Zero Waste Scotland We exist to create a society where resources are valued and nothing is wasted. Our goal is to help Scotland realise the economic, environmental and social benefits of making best use of the world’s limited natural resources. Setting our sights We’re funded to support delivery of the Scottish Government’s circular economy strategy, Making Things Last. We receive additional funding to support the EU’s 2020 growth strategy.

Why? Our work is becoming ever more critical against a global backdrop of: climate change rising population unprecedented pressure on the world’s land, water, energy and raw materials. The world is already 1.3C warmer than it was before industrialisation The world’s population is increasing is expected to peak at 10bn in 2050 putting more pressure on resources. We’re consuming large quantities of land, water, energy and raw materials to provide food and manufactured goods.

Scotland's National Recycling brand Launched in 2011 Recognised by 50% of Scottish population Used by all 32 Scottish Local Authorities Recycle for Scotland is Scotland’s national recycling campaign, its part of the successful Recycle Now family which is used across England, Wales and Northern Ireland, and came to Scotland with the support of Scottish Government in 2011. Its well used and the logo family is recognised by 53% of the Scottish public. Since its launch its been adopted and rolled to varying extents across all 32 Local Authorities and is used various ways including;

Used across Scotland on packaging in the supermarket, on the bins your council provide for you to recycle at home, on signage and literature and when you are out and about.
