Presentation transcript:

Perceptions of self Where you feel comfortable being touched … By a stranger? (RED) By a close friend? (GREEN) In Groups discuss agree and complete the chart Give out flip chart of a ‘Gingerbread person’ or use Manikin picture on next slide . It is fun – but makes the point that everyone has very different attitudes to ‘touch’ and where and when they ‘permit’ people to touch them and how it feels if your personal space is invaded The phase ‘close friend’ is deliberately vague to cause debate! It can make people realise how they feel about being touched themselves and what they do in their role. This should identify social and professional relationships and what happens when boundaries become confused – you can lead it where you wish – just to bring us back to reality – when we work in social care for a long time we may forget and allow our boundaries and awareness become blurred (desensitised)
