Enhancing responsible Data- sharing: Trust Statement, Principles and Ethical Obligations “There is an ethical responsibility of data and information holders to share data and information in a safe, useful manner with actors who are in a position or have a responsibility to respond to issues raised. An environment of trust and the ways in which trust can be created, maintained, and enhanced requires working in a spirit and practice of trust, with a shared minimum approach to ensure good practice.” The Framework for Data Sharing in Practice was developed by an inter-agency group of Protections and IM experts, led by OCHA and PIM. It includes a “Trust Statement” (a statement to which two parties will agree as an indication of their commitment to the Framework when sharing data) and practical actions for ethical data sharing. It helps set the stage for responsible data-sharing, in full respect of PIM principles and organizational policies.
