Bellwork 9/24/12 As a senior, there are many things you carry with you every day. Some of them literal (backpacks) and some of them figurative (excitement, stress). For the next five to seven minutes, write about the things you carry with you every day.

Due this week Work to complete your Senior Project Proposal draft Due on Thursday Don’t put your name on it, just your ID # and class letter (N) Guided reading questions on green or white half sheet of paper Due Thursday

Reading Aloud Follow along and be prepared to discuss the point we are at in the text. Listen carefully so you can know if you agree or disagree or have something important to add.

“TTTC”—Discussion Why the focus on the EXACT weight of what they carried? Can the burden of what they are carrying be measured? Why the focus on Jimmy’s love for Martha? (leads to a major theme in the book). Style Point of view—what is its effect? What literary devices does O’Brien use and why.

Homework If we didn’t finish in class, finish “TTTC” and read “Love”—be ready to discuss tomorrow. Answer questions on green or white half sheet of paper (due Thursday). Work on Senior Proposal—due Thursday No name; just student ID.
