Presentation transcript:

How do you stay safe in the lab room? Essential Question: How do you stay safe in the lab room? When coming to science, you will be assigned a warmup at the beginning of class. In your notebook, starting on the left side of the page, you will be writing the essential question and answering it to the best of your knowledge. Remember, this is a way to get you thinking, so there are no right or wrong answers here. You will get about 5 min to answer the essential question. Towards the last 5 minutes of class, we will come back to our essential question and you will write your reflection to what you have learned.

Cornell Notes As we begin our lesson, one of the things we do next is to discuss about Cornell notes. When you draw your line to create two spacing, know that your left side is for your questions and the right side is for you to take notes. When it comes to taking notes on the right side there no right or wrong way to taking notes. You simply find a way to write down what is important to you. Because I am a visual learner, I typically draw diagrams or pictures and add comments next to them as reference. I have seen others takes notes using bullet points. Whatever works for you it is your way of creating a good habit to take notes.

Lab Safety Video Safety is very important in science. As you get ready to watch the video please pay attention to how the presenter teaches you about safety. Something to think about when it comes to your safety project that I will later discuss and give out.

Safety Project The lab safety video is a great project to develop your understanding of safety. I will randomly assign you with a group and you will read and follow all the instructions given on the lab safety video sheet. I will allow you to brainstorm your ideas with your group and starting Monday I will allow time to record your video. We will spend Monday and Tuesday to work on your project and then on the block day schedule we will present it in class.

Each group is given the 10 rules of lab safety Each group is given the 10 rules of lab safety. You must choose one of the rule to create a video about it.
