Pulmonary outcome differences in U. S Pulmonary outcome differences in U.S. and French cystic fibrosis cohorts diagnosed through newborn screening  Aimee C. Walsh, Gilles Rault, Zhanhai Li, Virginie Scotet, Ingrid Duguépéroux, Claude Férec, Michel Roussey, Anita Laxova, Philip M. Farrell  Journal of Cystic Fibrosis  Volume 9, Issue 1, Pages 44-50 (January 2010) DOI: 10.1016/j.jcf.2009.10.004 Copyright © 2009 European Cystic Fibrosis Society Terms and Conditions

Fig. 1 Longitudinal WCXR scores in Brittany and Wisconsin CF patients identified through newborn screening. The scale of the WCXR scoring system is from 0 to 100, with higher scores denoting worsening pulmonary disease. The graph of WCXR scores clearly shows worse scores for Brittany patients compared to Wisconsin patients, particularly between ages 2 and 6. Fig. 2 Longitudinal WCXR peribronchial thickening scores (upper graph) and bronchiectasis scores (lower graph) in Brittany and Wisconsin CF patients identified through newborn screening. A higher peribronchial thickening score correlates with increased peribronchial thickening, and a higher bronchiectasis score correlates with increased bronchiectasis. Brittany patients have more peribronchial thickening than Wisconsin patients with difference ±SE, 0.74±0.29, p=0.01 by GEE. Brittany patients have more bronchiectasis than Wisconsin patients with difference±SE, 2.94±0.49, p<0.001 by GEE.
