The Structure of Government: The Government of Trinidad and Tobago has three branches: 1. The Judiciary. 2. The Executive. 3. The Legislature.

The Judiciary: The Judiciary of Trinidad and Tobago is headed by the Chief Justice. The Judiciary is responsible for overseeing the various courts in Trinidad and Tobago, the maintenance of these courts and the appointment of judges and magistrates. The Judiciary is responsible for upholding the laws of the land. Who is the present Chief Justice of Trinidad and Tobago?

Chief Justice Ivor Archie:

The Judiciary is made up of: 1.The Court of Appeal. 2. The High Court. 3. The Magistrates’ Court. 4.The Industrial Court. 5. The Privy Council.

The Executive: The Executive is headed by the Prime Minister and it is also known as the Cabinet. It is made up of all the Ministers who head the various Ministries. These Ministers are responsible for their various Ministries: the policies and operations of such. Activity: Students are to give examples of various ministries.

Prime Minister Kamla Persad- Bissessar:

Activity: Role playing: Fifteen students from the class will portray the role of the Prime Minister and the Cabinet. The remaining students will act as members of the media. In the full view of the media, the Prime Minister will hold a meeting of the Cabinet addressing issues of national importance.

Closure: Students will recap the main points of the lesson.

Homework: Each student as the Minister of Trade and Industry will draw a map showing the best areas for establishing the following industries: cocoa, coffee and citrus .In an accompanying paragraph of no more than seven lines, students are to justify why they chose the areas that they did.
