Process for selecting the draft indicators Initial draft set identified in consultation with SPC, OPOC, WorldFish and others Mapping of international & regional instruments Consultation with HoF10 delegates WARNING: Complicated and messy An initial draft set of indicators for coastal fisheries has been identified following consultation with representatives from SPC, OPOC, WorldFish and LMMA. Other international instruments and regional reporting requirements were considered in the selection of the indicators, along with data availability and what would be feasible to report on at a regional level. Element of being pragmatic so that we have something to report on. The next stage of consultation is to utilise the Tenth SPC Heads of Fisheries meeting for consultation with countries and regional partners. This feedback will be utilised to confirm the set of indicators for measuring progress towards the region’s goals for coastal fisheries, with these indicators being used in reporting in the annual Coastal Fishery Report Card. Not easy, messy, not a simple process, complicated - particularly given the data gaps and challenges in collating data across the region from the range of partners included in the New Song.
