Regional reporting Annual progress report cards FPO OPOC The fishery report cards are used to populate FPO fisheries indicators Regional roadmap Tuna fishery report card FFA & SPC Coastal fishery report card SPC The coastal report card will be for both the Roadmap and New Song New Song Reference made to Table 1 and column 4 in Table 2 from IP5

Regional alignment Regional policy mapping underway Various partners undertaking mapping exercises to identify synergies Regional set of fisheries indicators Aligned as much as possible with global, regional & subregional policies Ongoing process HOF10, Oceans Conference Prep & Working Groups, SDG Taskforce, etc. Regional policy mapping underway Various stakeholders & partners are concurrently undertaking mapping exercises to identify overlap / synergies across policies Regional set of fisheries related indicators Through the report cards, policy mapping & MEL framework development the aim is to have a regionally agreed upon set of indicators Align as much as possible with SDG & other global policies, as well as downwards to sub-regional & national plans, & projects Ongoing process HOF10, Oceans Conference Prep & Working Groups, SDG Taskforce, etc

The “New Song” 2 A New Song

New song outcomes Since the development of the New Song the outcomes have been categorised according to the type of outcome. So whether the outcome is about creating an enabling environment, looking at structural change or a more development focussed outcome.

Process for selecting the draft indicators Initial draft set identified in consultation with SPC, OPOC, WorldFish and others Mapping of international & regional instruments Consultation with HoF10 delegates WARNING: Complicated and messy An initial draft set of indicators for coastal fisheries has been identified following consultation with representatives from SPC, OPOC, WorldFish and LMMA. Other international instruments and regional reporting requirements were considered in the selection of the indicators, along with data availability and what would be feasible to report on at a regional level. Element of being pragmatic so that we have something to report on. The next stage of consultation is to utilise the Tenth SPC Heads of Fisheries meeting for consultation with countries and regional partners. This feedback will be utilised to confirm the set of indicators for measuring progress towards the region’s goals for coastal fisheries, with these indicators being used in reporting in the annual Coastal Fishery Report Card. Not easy, messy, not a simple process, complicated - particularly given the data gaps and challenges in collating data across the region from the range of partners included in the New Song.
