Activator Sit down SILENTLY, take out HW Complete in notebook what are some things that you notice, what are some things that you wonder?

I will be able to use the formula distance = rate  time Today’s Objective: I will be able to use the formula distance = rate  time So I can solve real world problems when only two values are given I will demonstrate my understanding by successfully completing my centers with my partners with at least 80% accuracy. 6.RP.A.2, 6.RP.A.3

Language Objective By the end of the lesson, I will be able to use all four language domains of listening, speaking, reading and writing to listen and orally discuss with my partners the distance formula (distance = rate  time or d = r t ) to solve real world problems when only two values are given. I will demonstrate my understanding by successfully completing the centers in small groups with 80% accuracy. Academic Math Language Vocabulary: Rate, distance, time

  Example

If an object is moving at a constant rate of speed for a certain amount of time, it is possible to find how far the object went by multiplying the rate and the time. Consider the units that you want to end up with. If you want to end up with the rate (feet/second), then divide the distance (feet) by time (seconds)

We know the distance to be 40 yards. We also know the time to be 4.24 seconds

How do you feel? topic.

Classwork Stations, you will have about 4 minutes at each station

HOMEWORK: Pg. S.98

Exit Ticket Franny took a road trip to her grandmother’s house. She drove at a constant speed of 60 miles per hour for 2 hours. She took a break and then finished the rest of her trip driving at a constant speed of 50 miles per hour for 2 hours. What was the total distance of Franny’s trip?
