Science Journals – 2-27-13 What is gravity? Why is the Sun at the center of our solar system? What is Newton’s Law of Universal Gravitation?

Science Journals – 2-27-13 Gravity is a natural, attractive force - a force that only pulls. The Sun is significantly larger than any other body in our solar system and therefore exerts a force of gravity such that other bodies are trapped in orbital paths around the Sun.

Science Journals – 2-27-13 All bodies in the universe exert a pulling or attractive force on all other bodies. The greater the mass of the body, the greater the force of gravity on that body. The greater the distance between the two bodies, the weaker the effect of gravitational force on those bodies.

The student is expected to understand that gravity is the force that governs the motion of our solar system.

GRAVITY IS NOT THE SAME AS MAGNETISM
