St. Paul’s 2018 Results At St. Paul’s we are ambitious for all of our pupils and want to ensure the best possible provision in order to ensure the best possible outcomes for all. These results help to inform our School Development Plan as we continue to work collaboratively to improve on the progress and attainment for all.

Early years foundation stage data 77% of pupils achieved a good level of development (GLD). This represents a decrease of 3% (1 child) since last year but is above the national average, The proportions of pupils achieving at least expected are in line with national averages in most of the early learning goals (ELGs) and range from 77% (reading and writing) to 94% (moving & handling).

Early Years Foundation Stage data The proportions exceeding the Early Learning Goals are above national averages in all of the areas, ranging from 19% (multiple areas) to 32% (multiple areas).

Phonics testing in Year 1 In 2018, 93% of pupils achieved the expected standard in Year 1. This represents an increase of 3% points since last year and is above the national average, which stands at 83%. Three Year 2 pupils were eligible for the phonics screening check this year, of which one (33%) achieved the expected standard. The proportion of all Year 2 pupils doing so, either in Year 1 in 2017 or in Year 2 in 2018, was 93%, compared to the national average of 92%.

Comparative figures for Year 2 sats There is an upward trend in the percentages of pupils achieving the Expected Standard in all three subjects, which are in line with or above national figures. While pupils have done well at Greater Depth in reading and maths, the figures are fairly low for writing and so this continues to be a focus and one of our strategic priorities.

Key Stage 1 expected + Outcomes have improved since last year in all subjects at the Expected Standard and mathematics at Greater Depth. Attainment is in line with or above national averages in all of the four subjects at the Expected Standard and in two of the three subjects at Greater Depth. There is a general upward trend each year.

Comparative figures for Year 6 sats St. Paul’s figures are broadly in line for working at the Expected Standard across all three core subjects and at Greater Depth in maths. One of our Strategic Priorities for this year is to promote greater depth in core subjects, with a particular focus on reading and writing in Key Stage Two in order to address these lower numbers.

Key stage 2 expected + There is a general upward trend in all areas over the last three years, other than in maths and GPS, which remain in line or above national figures.
