Radio signal also covered virtually the entire country with the exception of a few dead spots in remote areas. Today mobile phones are used by mostly everyone because of their utility and functions.

Wireless Hotspots A wireless hotspot is a location that allows other devices to connect to a public WI- FI internet service via WLAN using a router connected to a certain internet provider. This is useful in public areas like cafes or train stations. The service is usually provided by the firm as an incentive for their business and is accessible for free. However, some companies charge by the hour to use their hotspots.

Satellite Satellite internet is the ability to transmit or receive data from a relatively small satellite dish on earth and communicate with an orbiting satellite to earth. The orbiting satellite transmits and receives information to a location on earth called a network operations centre. This is connected to the internet, so communication from a satellite dish will flow through the network operations centre before it reaches the internet. This kind of internet access is best used in rural areas where cable modems connections are not available. However, it has long latencies as a result limits their availability of functions such as online gaming. It is also susceptible to rain fade where the connection is affected by rain, snow and other weather issues.

Fixed wireless Fixed wireless is a way of connecting two fixed locations. For example building to building. It uses a radio or other wireless link to connect them and is part of a wireless LAN infrastructure. They do not require satellite and do not require the traditional conventional ways of internet connectivity by using copper of optical cables. They are often used by firms in large cities or towns that want a more cost- effective way of gaining internet access.

Fixed Broadband This is where an internet connection is delivered through the phone line or through the provider’s network of cables. There is either ADSL or fibre optic cables available. These cables then connect to a router which you can then use to connect devices to via WI-FI or an ethernet cable can be used. This is the general option for most people’s internet connection within their homes. The user’s computer or home router then uses an attached modem to encode and decode information into an audio frequency signal. This was a popular method of internet access in the 1980s but soon fell to the superior broadband in the late 1990s. This method of internet access is only used today in extremely rural areas or households with very low income. It was often viewed as slow and inefficient. High latency makes it redundant in today's era of video and picture based web interface.
