One-variable applications FoAA Unit 1 Day 2

Teamwork makes the dream work! Read the quotes sheet quietly to yourself and pick your favorite quote or two. Explain why they are your favorite(s). Volunteers can share. As a group, talk about what it means to be a team. What are some attributes of a quality team? Each quad will share two qualities of a strong team. Qualities of a good team member

Group roles and duties On your desks and on the board you will see the group assignments. They are color coded to make them easy to remember. You will also see the “key” on the back wall. Take a moment to familiarize yourself with the roles. Ask for clarification if needed.

HW check / Warm Ups Write your name on your stamp sheet and take our your hw. Each day your hw is done you will get a stamp. For about 5-10 minutes you will be able to collaborate with your group about the hw. Go over problems, compare answers, help each other! On your warm ups sheet each day you will then write the answers to three teacher chosen questions. These are turned in daily.

Application example Martina works as a server at a restaurant part-time while attending Wake Forest University. She earns $3 per hour plus tips. If Martina made $260 for a week in which she worked 20 hours, how much did Martina average per hour in tips?

Another application The width of a rectangular banquet room is 21 feet. The length of the room is 3 feet more than twice the width. What is the cost of carpeting the room with carpet that costs $24.50 per square yard?

Your turn! It’s time for an around the room activity! Each group will have to complete all questions (there are 12 of them). Label each question by title not number! When complete have your spy monitor check your work. Staple all team papers together and turn them in to the blue tray.
