Six Kingdoms. What characteristics determine how to classify an organism into a kingdom?
The Six Kingdoms Life Science.
1) To explain how scientists classify living things 2) To identify the 6 kingdoms of life.
Learning Goal Understand that all living things are made of cells. Compare and contrast prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells.
Kingdoms. Scientists use differences in organisms to help identify them Essential Question: How do scientists identify organisms belonging to different.
Organism #1- Elodea (Elodea canadensis) Domain: Eukarya Kingdom: Plantae Characteristics shared by all organisms within Plantae: –Plants –Eukaryotes –Photosynthesis.
AIM: Explain the difference between Bacteria, Archaea, Eukarya and Protista, Fungi, Plants, Animals? OBJ: Given notes and activity sheet SWBAT distinguish.

[History of Classification]

Standard SL71b. Evaluate historical models of how organisms were classified based on physical characteristics and how that led to the six kingdom system (currently archaea, bacteria, protists, fungi, plants, and animals). (Clarification statement: This includes common examples and characteristics such as, but not limited to, prokaryotic, eukaryotic, unicellular, multicellular, asexual reproduction, sexual reproduction, autotroph, heterotroph, and unique cell structures. Modern classification will be addressed in high school.)

What you need to do On the website are a list of links. Please go through them in order and add the information to the organizer as you see fit. Please make sure to support your answer. It is not good enough to say, “Aristotle’s system was too simple.” You would need to say something like, “Aristotle's system did not properly support organisms like the fungus. He placed the fungus in the plant category, but the fungus is not autotrophic like a plant.”
