Effects of isokinetic ankle fatigue on the maintenance of balance and postural limits  James A. Yaggie, PhD, RKT, Stephen J. Fig. 1 Quiet stance parameters. Subjects performed a 25-second unilateral quiet stance on the force platform with the dominant foot placed along the anteroposterior axis of the plate. The nonsupporting limb was flexed 45° at the knee, and the arms were placed across the chest eyes fixed on a target 10m in front. Three tests were collected for each condition. (A) ML sway, FA sway, vector displacement and (B) total sway. Legend: ■, ML sway; □, FA sway; ▩, vector displacement. *Denotes significant difference from PF condition (α <.05). Fig. 2 Lean test parameters. Subjects leaned forward at the dominant ankle for 10 seconds while in a unilateral stance. The nonsupporting limb was flexed 45° at the knee, and the arms were placed across the chest, eyes fixed on a target 10m in front. Three tests were collected for each condition.
