Presentation transcript:

Final CM for the early HTA of current and novel heart valve interventions. Final CM for the early HTA of current and novel heart valve interventions. Cerebrovascular accident includes strokes and transient ischemic attacks. Prosthetic valve dysfunction includes structural valve deterioration (SVD), non-structural valve dysfunction (NSD) and valve-malpositioning. Treatment includes the typical treatment strategies for the events in the model (table 1). Background and excess mortality: Some of the non-valve-related mortality will be comparable with mortality in the general population (background mortality). The remaining non-valve-related mortality can be ascribed to the excess risk of dying of patients who underwent heart valve interventions (excess mortality). The excess mortality can be explained by increased occurrence of sudden death, underreporting of valve-related events, and underlying pathology such as left ventricular hypertrophy. CM: conceptual model; HTA: health technology assessment. Simone A Huygens et al. Open Heart 2016;3:e000500 ©2016 by British Cardiovascular Society
