The central part of the country has mild climate: winters are cold, springs and autumns are warm or cool, summers are hot and warm.

Winter is the season of snow.

In the South the temperature is usually above zero all year round, even in winter. Summer is really hot, the climate is very favorable.

The climate of Siberia is continental: summers are hot and dry, winters are very cold.

Some parts of our country are covered with mountains and hills.

The deepest lakes are the Baikal and the Ladoga.

The capital of Russia is Moscow The capital of Russia is Moscow. Moscow is one of the biggest and most beautiful cities in the world. Moscow is a cultural centre. There are many fine buildings, wide streets, green parks, large squares, churches in Moscow.

One of the most beautiful cities in Russia and in the world is St Petersburg. It was founded by Peter the Great in 1703. St Petersburg was the capital of Russia from 1712 till 1918. The city is situated on the Neva River and is an important seaport. Petersburg is a big cultural center of Russia. It is famous for old architectural monuments and museums.

The economic region of Western Siberia lies between the Urals and the Yenisei River. It’s biggest city, Novosibirsk (over a million inhabitants) is situated on the right bank of the River Ob. Novosibirsk is an important cultural and scientific center.

I can’t imagine my life in another country without Russian friends, Russian language and Russian frost.
